Inclusive church Resolution

Inclusive church Resolution

Following its 12 August discussion, Explorers Small Group agreed to submit a proposal to the MUC Church Council for its consideration of an appropriate response. The proposal was embraced by Church Council for presentation to the November meeting of the Congregation which, with Church Council’s agreement, is asked to approve Explorers’ proposals.

At a Congregational meeting on 24th November, Manningham Uniting Church adopted a resolution to affirm our intention to be an inclusive church. The Resolution agreed reads;

  1. As followers of Christ, Manningham Uniting Church will be welcoming of all people including otherwise marginalised members of our society including those who, for example, the Building Bridges Through Story[1] program seeks to embrace.
  2. Ever more actively, live out our Social Justice activity in and beyond our Manningham Community, as our own congregation and in collaboration with other churches and community groups.
  3. Adopt a policy and practice which welcomes and embraces the spectrum of theological understanding from traditional to more progressive theology.

[1] Building Bridges Through Story is a Community event, initiated by MUC and supported by Manningham City Council, Bendigo Bank and Rotary, highlighting stories from marginalised sections of our community. This year tories were heard.
