On behalf of Dot Haynes (Councillor – Koonung Ward Manningham City Council) we share her letter:
Dear Aged care and health organisation leaders.
I am a caring member of our community and with our new Government Directives in place at this time. That are also always evolving it has become obvious that our elderly are the most vulnerable.
Unfortunately this means that the isolation will possibly affect them more than their concerns for the virus effects. With this in mind I attach some knitting and crotchet patterns.
I have wool to give and are happy for them to be made in other colours that you or they may have. I am prepared to fund and supply wools to have as many made as possible. Or other supplies to help.
As the events coordinator of Manningham Interfaith Network there has been federal MUSTER (Mutual, Understanding, Support, Trust, Engagement and Respect.) Grant Funding. That will cover these needs.
This will be used as a display over many years of a memory of this time.
It will begin by being displayed on Doncaster Road at and near the Doncaster RSL and its sporting park for the week of Remembrance Day November 11th 2020.
I ask that you call me on 0425 718 937 to do safe and healthy drop off or pick up at any time during this.
If you know someone who is isolated at home please give them a copy of this and the patterns. If there are any other ways I can help just ask.
I am happy to provide other ways as well. Books, movies or a chat to people about what is possible for their happiness.
Please keep yourselves, staff and families healthy in all aspects each day. My thoughts are will all who care and are in need of care.
